Investment clubs are a way of investing in the stock market as a group. Created by BOVESPA (Brazilian’s Stock Exchange) they are a great alternative for those who intend to start negotiations in the stock market.

Investment clubs work like a condominium. Each participant invests a determinate amount. These funds are turned into quota, creating a total amount of the fund.

To form an investment club the minimum is 3 and the maximum is a 150 participants. Clubs can be formed by employees from the same institution or company, relatives, self-employed, friends, etc.
Management and Administration
Club members need to choose a manager and an administrator for the club. The manager will be responsible for putting together the investment portfolio. Management can be done by a club participant or by a hired manager (in this case, there will be a performance fee). The club administration must be done by a BOVESPA’s broker member. The broker’s role is to elaborate the club statute, to answer for documentation and legal registration in regulatory agencies, and to offer support and advice for the club’s investment strategies. It is also the broker’s responsibility to send a monthly statement, similar to a bank account statement, with all the transactions, and investment earnings.
